When you smile at yourself in the mirror, are you happy with what you see? What would you change, if you could? Are your teeth chipped or cracked? Are they stained? Widely spaced? What if there were an easy way to fix your teeth and make your smile beautiful?

You can transform your smile using porcelain veneers.

Veneers are dental restoration that fit right over the top of your natural teeth, like thin shells, and can conceal and correct all kinds of aesthetic flaws. While some people are born with a perfect smile, others can attain one using veneers. In fact, veneers are probably the secret behind your favorite celebrity’s camera-ready smile.

Anyone can get veneers; you don’t have to be rich and famous! At Bond Family & Implant Dentistry, we’ve been placing veneers for our patients for years, transforming smiles and lives.

What Are Veneers?

Veneers are thin segments of porcelain that are shaped, colored, and bonded to the front of your teeth. The porcelain used to create veneers is so similar to dental enamel, that nobody will ever know the difference.

We can use veneers to fix a range of cosmetic flaws, including:

  • Chips and minor cracks
  • Discoloration that is resistant to whitening
  • Short or eroded teeth
  • Widely spaced teeth
  • Some alignment or crowding issues
  • Unusually shaped teeth

Am I a Good Candidate for Veneers?

You are always welcome to call our Longmont dental office and schedule a cosmetic consultation with Dr. Bond to determine whether veneers can treat your specific issues. We know that not every smile is the same and veneers may not be the ideal solution for everyone, but we are committed to helping you find a solution that works for you.

Certain dental issues may need to be addressed before we place veneers. For instance, if you have any areas of decay or active periodontal disease, we will need to get these under control. Additionally, if you grind or clench your teeth or have habits that can damage the veneers, we will want to treat these to avoid a veneer breaking or popping loose.

The process to place veneers does involve the removal of some of your natural tooth enamel, and this process cannot be reversed, so you will want to keep this in mind as you make your decision.

Caring for Veneers

With good care, veneers can last for a decade or longer before they will need to be replaced. Although veneers are stain-resistant, they are not stain-proof. If you choose to eat and drink foods and beverages that are known to stain teeth (like coffee and red wine), it would be wise to rinse your mouth or brush your teeth as soon as you can afterward to prevent damaging your veneers. Likewise, smoking will damage your veneers. We recommend quitting smoking for many reasons, and this is just one of them. If you need help quitting, please talk to Dr. Bond or your family healthcare provider.

Avoid chewing your fingernails or using your teeth as a “tool” since this can damage your veneers or cause them to detach. If you do happen to lose or break a veneer, please call our office as soon as possible so that we can repair or replace the veneer.
